Main Street Construction Between Monument and First |

Beginning Monday, August 11, City of Dayton street maintenance crews will begin repair work in the median of Main Street between Monument Avenue and First Street. The work is expected to take approximately two weeks. During this time Main Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Motorists should expect delays during construction.

Dayton’s Genesis Project is one of 13 finalists in the National League of Cities 2008 Award for Municipal Excellence competition, in the category of cities with populations of 150,000 to 500,000.
The Genesis Project is a multi-faceted effort launched in 2000 that has successfully brought new vitality and development to one of Dayton’s oldest communities, the Fairgrounds Neighborhood, which is bordered by Stewart, Main, Wyoming and Brown Streets. A public-private partnership has built or restored dozens of housing units, acted as a catalyst for extensive commercial and retail development and has improved the area’s traffic flow and walkability. The final phase of the project, development of 10 new homes on nowvacant lots, is in its early implementation stages.
The Genesis Project’s primary partners are Miami Valley Hospital, the University of Dayton, the City of Dayton and CityWide Development Corporation. Neighborhood residents participated in the development of Genesis Project plans in cooperation with the partners. |
